Backyard Wedding in Oyster Bay Cove, Long Island, North Shore
There is something undeniably special about a wedding at home. The familiar landscape, the family history woven into every corner, the feeling that guests are stepping into a place that already holds so many memories. Brittany and Jason's waterfront wedding in Oyster Bay Cove on Long Island's North Shore was exactly that kind of celebrationāpersonal, joyful, and deeply rooted in family.
Set on a stunning waterfront property overlooking Oyster Bay Harbor, the day unfolded against a backdrop of endless blue water and colorful summer florals. The ceremony took place overlooking the bay, where guests gathered with panoramic water views and a gentle breeze coming off the harbor.
One of my favorite moments happened before the ceremony. Brittany and Jason shared their first look on the property's dock, surrounded by nothing but water and sky. As they walked toward each other, the dock seemed to stretch endlessly into the harbor, creating a quiet and intimate space away from the excitement building back on shore. It was one of those rare moments where everything slows down for a few minutes.
The celebration that followed was filled with energy from start to finish. Vibrant florals brought bursts of color to cocktal hour and reception on the lawn. As the sun began to set over the water, guests settled in for an evening that felt equal parts elegant garden party and family reunion.
And then came the dancing.
Brittany's family loves to dance, and that spirit shaped so much of the celebration. Throughout the evening, guests were treated to three incredible dance performances that had everyone cheering from the sidelines. The performances felt less like entertainment and more like an expression of family traditionāa reflection of the joy and closeness that defined the entire day.
The highlight was Brittany and Jason's first dance. Choreographed to Henry Connick Jr.'s "It Had To Be You," it was equal parts classic, romantic, and effortlessly fun. Instead of swaying in place, they moved confidently across the dance floor, drawing guests into the moment and setting the tone for the party that followed.
By the end of the night, the dance floor was packed, the waterfront was glowing in the distance, and it felt like no one wanted the celebration to end. These are the weddings I love mostāthe ones where the details are beautiful, but the people and the moments are what truly stand out.
Brittany and Jason created a wedding day that felt completely their own: heartfelt, vibrant, family-centered, and full of movement. A perfect summer celebration on the North Shore of Long Island.
