Whether you just started your wedding day preparations or are getting married in a week I want to share some useful tips on how to look and feel great on your wedding day. I got married 3 months ago and I completely understand the stress of getting everything ready for your big day but it is important to prioritize and focus on enjoying the process rather then stressing out about the little things. I promise you will feel and look your best if you focus on what is most important!
Avoid stressing out about the little things both on your wedding day and before. Make a plan but go with the flow when the unexpected happens. Remember that your wedding day is not about being perfectly on time but it's about enjoying yourself and your partner and celebrating your commitment to each other. As the photographer, I am there to capture your story and I'd rather capture you laughing and enjoying your day no matter what happens!
Get some sleep!
There is no easier solution to look and feel refreshed and energized on your wedding day than getting a good sleep the night before. Plan to finish all last minute tasks 2 days before your wedding day and focus on relaxing on the last day before your wedding. After all the months of preparations what can be better than a day off from all the responsibilities and catching up on the much needed sleep?
Get a make-up/hair trial
Your hair and make up are crucial to looking good in your wedding photos. A great make up artist can masterfully enhance your features and mask the imperfections. Determine whether you want a more natural or a more dramatic look on your wedding day and see if the look you had in mind actually works during your trial session. It is easy to find inspiration images on Pinterest but this doesn't mean you will look best with a dramatic eyeliner or nude lips. Leaving the hair and make up decisions for the wedding day can be a hit or miss. The last thing you want is to feel disappointed with your hair and make up and not have enough time to make changes.
Be confident and be yourself!
I love seeing brides transforming on their wedding day and it's a joy to capture this transformation. Although you do put your wedding gown on, get your hair and make up done you are still you. I want to tell a story of who YOU are so that years later you will look at your photos and appreciate all the candid moments of you being silly with your bridesmaids or crying uncontrollably during the ceremony.
Find a good photographer
A good photographer is there to capture your story in the best and the most flattering way possible. It is important to find a photographer who is a good match for YOU. The best way to get to know your photographer better is to schedule an engagement session prior to your wedding. You will get accustomed to posing in front of the camera and feel completely relaxed on your wedding day. If you picked your photographer, trust in her vision. As your photographer, I am there to capture your love story creatively in the most natural way. During the portrait session I don't pose but rather engage with you to bring out your personalities and capture real interactions and emotions. You can rest assured that your wedding day will be documented thoroughly and in the most unobtrusive way possible!
I strongly believe that looking good on your wedding day depends on how you feel! Plan well but be prepared to go with the flow and focus on what the day is really about - your love and commitment to each other! Hope you have the most amazing wedding day and a great team of vendors to make it flow even easier!
