As I was editing images from the Big Fake Wedding I thought I might as well share a little about my experience photographing weddings and why this specific event provided such a unique opportunity for the brides to witness me in action. Mainly, I want to explain how I approach each wedding (real or fake:). Every wedding I photograph is special! It really means a lot to all the people involved and it means a lot to me!
My couples sometimes ask me to define my photography style and I often find it hard to explain this in a few words. Natural. Creative. Documentary. Emotional. Artistic. These are just some of the words that best describe my work. But I feel there is so much more to my style. Wedding photography is a lifestyle that I am truly passionate about. I don't follow style guidelines and I don't follow shot lists. I am motivated to capture some of the most emotional, fun and crazy moments on your wedding day because these moments are real and they tell a story.
I am inspired by beauty! Just because I am a documentary photographer doesn't mean your story will miss the small details. I will photograph your rings, shoes, dress, decor and all the details you spent time thinking about before your wedding day.
I am inspired by your love! One of my favorite parts of the day is photographing bride and groom alone. I love to capture intimacy and fun personalities of my couples in the most natural way. But don't get surprised if I get a crazy idea and start climbing furniture to get the perfect shot;)
I love to get creative! As a photographer, I am motivated to always challenge myself and come up with new ideas. Every wedding I photograph offers unique locations and unique personalities that get my creative juices flowing. All I am saying is you won't find me sitting in the corner waiting for things to happen. There are moments happening all the time and I am on the hunt to capture the best of them from a unique angle!
I want to conclude this post with the photos from the Big Fake Wedding and say that this was by far the most exciting bridal show I've participated in. All the reasons why are listed above:) While shooting this alternative wedding event I really wanted to focus on moments and telling a story. Although I got tons of gorgeous photos of all the details provided by other vendors, I want to focus on this super fun couple and their experience! Keeley and Clayton is a real couple who got married in November 2014 and renewed their vows during The Big Fake Wedding event.
Thank you to all my couples for trusting my vision and thank you for the opportunity to capture this love story, Keeley and Clayton!
